City of Victoria policy documents
Oaklands Neighbourhood is lucky to be home to seven city parks comprised of playgrounds, sports facilities and native Garry Oak ecosystems. The Oaklands Green and Ryan Greenway are natural areas maintained by volunteers in cooperation with City of Victoria Parks Department Staff. Oaklands also has several designated greenways including Doncaster Drive, Edgeware Road, Kings Road, Shakespeare Street and Haultain Street.
The purpose of Oaklands Community Association Parks Committee is to provide strategic direction and leadership toward special projects that improve the use of parks and maintain natural areas within Oaklands.
The City's greenways vision is "to provide a superb, human-scaled, people-friendly environment so that pedestrians, cyclists and other non-motorized users will be rewarded with a safe, enjoyable and engaging experience as they use greenways". The OCA acknowledges the privilege of serving our community on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples, in particular the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, whose rich relationship with the land remains today.
